“The exhibition title, Erkennungsflüge (Reconnaissance Flights) is one I chose due to its use in the military, surveying and meteorology. It can also be read as a keyword for my work: the canvas is approached from a bird’s-eye view and this is how the image forms. The painting develops like the mysterious territory of a foreign land with images becoming visible throughout the process.”
