About my own inadequacy, to manufacture a sculpture

“…In the nineties I heard about the discovery and the reconstruction of lion man. It was a thirty cm high statuette made of mammoth ivory, which has both, animal and human attributes (found in the Swabian Mountains).
Inspired by this figure I started to model a series of hybrid human creatures during my painting breaks. Those creatures are also an important part of my painting and graphic work.
The results of my unintentional and playful approach to a soft material like: wax, clay and plasticine have been a big surprise for me. It was the idea of a gallery owner to make it of bronze.”
